How to upload and share your “Identify. Tell me why. GCY!” video

Short version for experienced users (scroll down for detailed instructions)…

YouTube: upload your video to your YouTube account. Go to Facebook.com/GayChristianYes and post a link to your video. We’ll add your posted videos to the GCY webpage stream on a regular basis. Please be sure to include your name and the phrase “Gay Christian? Yes!” in the video title. Tag suggestions are listed below in the YouTube instructions.

Facebook: Go to Facebook.com/GayChristianYes and post your video directly to the page. You can also choose to upload it to your own account and then post a link on the GCY facebook page, but make sure that you’ve set the video permission available to “public” so all can see it.

You may use other video hosting sites if you wish, but if you want to be included on the GCY webpage stream, your host must support video embedding.

  1. Record your video using a webcam, phone, or camera. Share it directly from your device, or
  2. Go to Youtube.com
  3. Click on the “Upload” button located at the right of the search box near the top of the homepage. (you may need to be logged-in to your gmail email address, or create an account with YouTube to continue)
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to upload your video. Be sure to include your name and the phrase “Gay Christian? Yes!” in the video title.
  5. Suggested tags: GCY, Gay Christian? Yes!, LGBT, Christian, God, Jesus, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, GIFT, Gays in Faith Together, neighbor, love, marriage, church, equality, human rights
  6. Once your video is uploaded, go watch the video to be sure that it uploaded properly and to your satisfaction.
  7. Underneath your video is the title bar, and just below that you’ll see the “Share” tab. Click Share. Youtube will then provide you with a link that you can share to your video (cut/paste) or you can use the facebook, twitter, or google + buttons to share your video.
  8. Please “copy” your video’s address and go to Facebook.com/GayChristianYes and paste the link into a post on the page. This will immediately share your video with our facebook page, and we will add your posted videos to the GCY webpage stream on a regular basis.

If you do not have a Facebook.com account…
simply follow the above instructions, but instead of posting the video on our Facebook page, send it in an email to MediaTeam@GayChristianYes.org

  2. Log-in to Facebook.com and go to Facebook.com/GayChristianYes
  3. Go to the “Post” field and click the “Photo/Video” tab.
  4. Click “Attach Photo/Video”
  5. Enter whatever comments you would like to include, and click “Choose File”. and then select the file from your computer. Follow any additional on-screen instructions, and then post your video on the GCY Facebook timeline.
  6. Be sure to include your name and the phrase “Gay Christian? Yes!” in the video title.
  7. Once your video is uploaded, go watch the video to be sure that it uploaded properly and to your satisfaction.
  8. This will immediately share your video with our facebook page, and we will add your posted videos to the GCY webpage stream on a regular basis.

Faith & Sexuality Series: Engaging our Sacred Texts

Join us for a Faith & Sexuality Series during our GRITS adult meetings on Wednesday evenings during the month of February. This series will be lead by Gregory Eran Gronbacher, a gay Jewish man with a passion for theological study and discourse.

We will be encouraged to engage the Scriptures in new ways and glean from the perspectives of one another. This series is sponsored by the Gay Christian? Yes! campaign and GIFT. It is free and open to the public!

Dates: 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, and 2/26
Time: 7-9pm
Location: 207 E. Fulton, Grand Rapids, MI 49503
(Turn North onto Barclay, turn into the top parking lot and head down to the bottom parking lot. The door is closest to the sidewalk on Fulton.)

Need to create your video? All it takes is a webcam and five minutes of your time.

Identify.
Using YouTube (or another preferred video hosting site), you record a web or phone cam video of yourself. Just tell us who you are. LGBT+? Ally?

Tell me why.
Explain why the “Gay Christian? Yes!” message resonates with you. What is your story? How do you find yourself reconciling your spiritual walk, your involvement in a church community, and the various other aspects of your humanity? Allies too! What message of hope can you offer your Christian LGBT friends and neighbors?

Affirm that you are among those who unconditionally recognize the sacred worth of each person and fully welcome all into the life and community of the church by saying “Gay Christian? Yes!” and/or by making a whimsical sign with the GCY name and website to hold up at the end of your video
